Listening to a lecture on how to clone DNA or identify a chemical functional group through infrared spectroscopy was useless for me. I didn't understand until I did it in a laboratory setting.

My personal weakness in algebra is matrices - I'm proficient with them, but I'm not very found of them, as most problems you would solve with matrices can be solved with other, much easier algebra operations.
