Mary W. I find that tying real-world applications into mathematical concepts is of lasting use to students. With six papers written and presented at international conferences, and two of them re-written for non-math audiences, I have an excellent grasp of how to give folks the connections between concept and application. I have taught mostly adults, but did tutor at the high school level.
