...I worked in emergency medicine for 12 years (fire/ambulance/ER) before I went back to school in 2005 at SRJC. I first began tutoring nursing students I worked with in math and chemistry. After starting at Humboldt State in 2009, I started teaching algebra and pre-calc courses at a high school summer program called Upward Bound, which helps underprivileged kids get ahead in math and science.
