...Because each section is 35-60 minutes long each, students may have problems pacing themselves and spending too much time on more difficult passages or problems. Timing is everything! Despite the new format, I have tutored a number of students who have improved their score considerably from 10th to 11th grade, and then went on to achieve a better score in the SAT itself. ...It is my experience that these questions drive the concepts and the learning. Students need to see multiple methods (i.e. graphically, algebraically, numerically, etc.) on how to answer a math problem. Math (and business) problems have both a mechanical piece and a theoretical piece to them that must be identified and understood. (read more)
