...I believe calculus provides a unique challenge to students as it is typically the first interaction with mathematically abstract concepts. These tend to juxtapose the more perceptible concepts seen in geometry and algebra classes. I find this sudden shift is at the root of why calculus has a tendency to trip students up, especially those in high school. (read more)
