...I also think that tutoring is not going to be of a good help if child does not have his/her personal motivation and responsibility. Many times I work on developing students' responsibility to tutor themselves and how to do that in order parents do not spend extra dollars on hiring a tutor. ...I find that the most detrimental thing to a mathematics student is lacking a core foundation. In math, everything you learn builds on top of what you learned in previous years, and without that strong foundation, students can fall behind. When teachers explain something in class they assume that the students have a certain knowledge about math based on what they learned in previous years. (read more)
