Instead, I prefer to focus on a student's entire skill set (study skills, problem solving techniques, basic skills, etc). At worst, I improve grades. At best, I improve students' self esteem, helping them to help others.

Brian H. ...Teaching math is something I've been exposed to my whole life, whether it was private instruction from a university math teacher (my mom) or helping friends and classmates. Other Comments: My focus is on the conceptual level. I do not think it's helpful to simply have students memorize formulas with a "paint by numbers" approach.
