Will A. ...My tutoring approach is to make sure the student is showing and understanding every part of the steps to the solution. I also strongly believe that the repetition of the steps leading to the solution is the most effective way for a student to fully understand the concepts. I do not want the student to feel overwhelmed so I plan on not giving them an unfair amount of work to complete.

In just a few minutes, I can usually determine what area or areas need to be worked on to improve spelling. Surprisingly, it is not usually that the student is weak in phonics that causes the spelling problems but that there is some underlying skill that is weak, such as sequencing or visual memory.
