...I asked these students to read a sentence or two to me out of a book of their choosing - then showed them strategies to help them be more fluent. Together, we would read slowly, ask questions, and really make the book come to life. ...As a teacher in math and science, it is important that the students build their knowledge upon topics previously learned. This is where I find many students have trouble. They may have missed a day in class or a specific topic that creates a roadblock to their understanding. (read more)

I graduated with a B.S in biology and a minor in chemistry from the University of Mary Washington in 2023. I have high interest in working in the field of Microbiology as a researcher and will be pursuing graduate studies.
