...I took mathematical logic during my undergraduate education. The topics included boolean algebra, theorem proving via rules of inference, and later, equation logic. Part of the curriculum revolved around proving certain major results, including the completeness theorem for boolean algebra, and the compactness theorem. (read more)
...For the essay, the key skill has now become the ability to carefully analyze a document and show how different rhetorical elements interact to achieve (or fail to achieve) the author's intent. I've been tutoring student individually to help prepare for the SSAT (and ISEE) for the past 4 years. In addition, I've taught classroom programs in SSAT preparation at various independent schools.
