...When I was still in high school, one of the teachers there invited me to participate in an after school tutoring program for middle schoolers. I helped the middle school students with their homework, and aided them in studying for any upcoming tests. Helping them allowed me to learn different teaching techniques, as each student learns differently. (read more)
...My approach to tutoring is to ask questions and listen first. I want to find out where you're at, what you understand and don't understand, and how you feel about what you're studying. Sometimes students are completely lost and we need to go all the way back to the beginning, but just as often, they only need some gaps filled in, and some concepts strengthened. (read more)
...I have taught introductory college biology, college biochemistry, and infectious diseases for non-science majors. I have a wealth of resources and lesson plans for these topics, but I am also happy to work with a student's existing assignments or curriculum.
