I have found that those who study with flash cards to memorize their way through often struggle more than those who actually understand what is occurring at the molecular level. My approach is to always follow the electron by applying basic general chemistry concepts: the periodic trends, acid/base theory, etc.

Joanne S. ...My most used text is part of the Longman series; it dives right into verbs before anything else. I prefer my students know their verb tenses well enough not to hesitate moving on unless they are confident about all twelve tenses. The book continues with the other essentials.

If help is needed with homework, classroom assignments or passing AP German, the focus would be on a more structured approach to the language. Some people who work for a German-based company would like to understand and speak a minimum of German, so the focus would be on building vocabulary and grammar.
