Lauren F. The biggest trend I noticed during my undergraduate education was the staggering number of students who were scared to take science and math classes because of the difficulty. True, it can be difficult unless we find a way to make it relevant to one's self. Understanding how these things can be relevant will make the subject far more interesting and thus far easier to learn.
