...I understand that math is not everyone's favorite subject as it was not always mine throughout high school. However, once I started in Calculus classes at Northwestern, I found that I really enjoyed math. The number one reason I became a teacher was that math was not always easy, but since I persevered through the high school curriculum, I was very successful at Northwestern.

...My students say that I make things fun and easy to understand. I love teaching, learning, and being a part of helping my students succeed. I have found that usually when a student is struggling in a subject, either there are gaps in instruction and skills that were missed or not taught in earlier grades or the student does not understand the vocabulary for that subject.

...I use the Barron's book for the national tests. In my opinion it is the most difficult and if a student does well with Barron's then the regular test should be much easier. I believe that math is fun and that overcoming many students' phobia about math is the key to success.

...I provide individualized intensive intervention utilizing specific, and when appropriate, alternative teaching strategies. I have found that working with a student's teacher and, if applicable, IEP team, is very valuable in the therapeutic process.
