...Despite over ten years of experience tutoring, I've always kept tutoring as a part-time thing with a limited number of students. I prefer it this way so I can get to know my pupils better. In addition, this arrangement means that I usually have enough free time to be flexible in case the student needs an extra session for a test or midterms, or has to reschedule because of conflicts. ...When I was a Master's student, I worked for my University and organized Discrete Math tutoring sessions for younger students. In Fall 2016, I have taught a Mathematical Proofs class at Hunter College which involved many topics from Discrete Math. I attend the Discrete Math seminar that runs weekly at CUNY's Graduate Center where PhD students meet discuss some open problems in the subject. (read more)

It turns out, classroom teaching is… not great. You take a smart kid, bore them to death, and then quiz them; they do badly, of course, and then you repeat this cycle for years. Students fail to develop strong foundations. (read more)
