Jordan V. ...Years of tutoring calculus sharpened my sense for how people learn math and science. I discovered the ability to connect any type of inquiring mind with abstract concepts by using concrete examples. Consider the operation d/dx( f(x) ). It is difficult to know what these symbols are implying unless you might see that d/dx( x^2) = 2x, d/dx( x^3) = 3x^2, d/dx( x^4) = 4x^3, d/dx( x^5) = 5x^4.

Seena T. ...I also took related Biology courses in Molecular Biology, Genetics, and Physiology. Because of this, I have a much deeper understanding of the topics that are covered in General Biology at the University level and AP Biology at the high school level. I think this will help me get a student to understand this material at a deeper level as well.

Shawn W. ...Advanced courses are broadly connected with other subjects, which adds to their difficulty but also to their power. And, in my experience, understanding these connections helps to visualize and interpret each assignment. Accordingly, I focus on conceptual understanding over drill-and-kill.
