...I taught a fifth grader from Afghanistan the basics of English from zero knowledge of English, and he was able to learn in about 6 months enough to begin talking to his classmates. I fell in love with trigonometry when I took it as a freshman in high school in an algebra II and trigonometry class. ...I have a lengthy background with standardized testing. For multiple years, I was honored by the Northwestern University Academic Talent Search for PSAT and SAT scores, and was in the 99th percentile for SSAT score. I received a 1500 on the SAT in my Junior year. (read more)
...Students can be drawn out more in a casual environment where ideas are encouraged and respected. Generally, I believe in collaboration, which of course is difficult in a one-on-one session. However, I feel that it's important to know where to find the answers. (read more)
