I don't believe in a standard approach to math. Yes, it's important to learn the proper vocab and symbols but I don't think that's useful when it comes before instilling an understanding of the mechanics behind it all. I taught within the system as a public high school math teacher for five years before my frustration with standardization became unbearable. (read more)

...I always make sure that students have time to work on their own, and that they have the chance to show that they know the material, I do not want to just give them answers. That is not the kind of teacher that I am, I will push students to become the best version of themselves that they can be. My form of teaching can be altered to fit each student's learning style.
