...My approach to teaching focuses on engagement with material and strategies to understand the content learned, rather than memorize it. While memorization can have its place, I believe understanding material is the best way to remember it long term. I use frequent "check-ins" with students and am always happy to back up or rephrase to ensure the pace is appropriate. (read more)
...I graduated from UVA in Math Education. This is my 7th year teaching Math after graduating from UVA with a Master's in Teaching (k-8th grade). While in my Elementary Education program, I tutored and student taught over 2 years after years of tutoring elementary and middle school kids in several subjects most specifically Math.
