To learn a person should be happy, relaxed, and engaged. Over the years of teaching in and out of the classroom I have discovered this to be especially true for learners that have unique needs or who struggle. ...I believe most students struggle with these subjects because many schools teach with a mechanics-first perspective. Instead, I encourage students to consider every question to be a puzzle. These subjects aren't esoteric: When you have a clear idea of what solution you're looking for and how to take the given information to its logical conclusion, you develop confidence and purpose.
