...Many schools require algebra I as a pre-requisite for chemistry and having it is essential. Several of the mathematical concepts in chemistry are directly related to concepts learned in this class. As such, I have noticed that a lot of students have several semesters in between their algebra class and their chemistry class and so they do not remember much of the math. (read more)
