...Many of the difficulties students encounter in first-year calculus stem from gaps in their understanding of topics covered in algebra and precalculus. My method for teaching calculus is to relate the new ideas discussed in calculus to topics covered in previous classes. In this manner, any gaps or forgotten knowledge will necessarily be reviewed in the process, too. (read more)
