...First the content of history is important to know, especially events and individuals relative location to each other. It is important to know that the Missouri Compromise happened before the Civil War, not the reverse. Beyond the surface level of content knowledge though, there is a more fluid knowledge that needs to be developed, one in which the student learns "why" things are connected. (read more)
...I have been able to see students start out a class confused by a topic, and end class feeling confident in their understanding. I believe that all students are capable of doing great things, and it is a joy to watch as students start to believe that too!
