...It's one of my favorite aspects of a Pre-calc/Trig course. SAT math includes a lot of Algebra 2 and Geometry, which are the two subjects that I teach. Many students need practice with the types of questions the SAT's ask along with techniques to solve the problems given on the SAT's. (read more)
...James authored and co-authored several scientific papers about this work, which are now published in top academic journals. James did his undergraduate work at the California Institute of Technology, where he studied as much math and science as possible. James especially enjoyed being a teaching assistant for two courses in control theory. (read more)
...I love to teach and work with students, and enjoy the opportunity to work one-on-one and see that flash of inspiration when they finally get a difficult topic. I am *mostly* looking for supplemental income over the summer when school lets out but can probably accommodate a few students this spring to get started. ...I enjoy the subject because it draws many mathematical concepts together. I also recognize that the subject challenges students as it transitions them to a new tier of mathematical thinking. My tutoring style helps students recognize the connections between what they know and what they're learning, which in turn builds self-confidence so that they can learn more. (read more)
