...I use as many 'hands on' manipulatives to introduce concepts because it's fun (and who doesn't like fun?) and it makes it easier to 'see' what's really going on. I am firm believer in 'it's not WHAT you present, it's HOW you present it', and the more creative & interesting, the better!
