...I previously was in the education program and recently switched to engineering. I have taken classes on special education and general education. I would love to tutor with children in k-12, but I could help college students in mathematics through calculus 1 (trig, algebra, precalculus, calculus). I would also be happy to help first year chemistry students.

I have a Masters Degree in Chemistry from the University of Washington, Seattle, and have been employed as a chemist and educator for over twenty years. ...Reading strategies include identifying the main idea, recognizing details, cause and effect relationships, and drawing conclusions. Summarizing skills are developed through using visual memory to recall sequential material, and key concepts. This is implemented by exercises that focus on decoding and encoding that are developed at the same time.

...This, coupled with repetition, appropriate memorization, and deep understanding all contribute to a student's success. Spending many hours weekly working with children with special needs has been one of the most fulfilling jobs I have ever done. To make a difference in a child's life is humbling, and that can be especially true with a child with special needs.

...I have taught Algebra 2 for more than 10 years to small groups of students. They usually find that they are well prepared for the college entry tests, and are able to retain their algebra skills well. Often college students need a review in order to pass this level of math, and I have materials (college work texts) available to support this process.
