Alex H. ...I think it detracts from the educational gain because of increased stress and anxiety. A more laid-back interaction in my experience helps the student open up and be willing to be aggressive with the questions they ask, which helps determine where their gaps in knowledge are. Another one of my strengths as a tutor: I understand what it feels to struggle in the subject.
