S. ...I would always ask my student what they did in class to make sure I wouldn't be redundant but rather take what they have learned and solidify that knowledge through exercises and visualizations. Lastly, I believe my general laid back personality helped me succeed as a tutor. I never wanted to create a dynamic where the tutor was superior to the tutee.
