Michael K. ...It is up to me to find a way of presentation that works with the student's background. I use the Socratic method a lot, asking the student questions and building on the response. I did some Skin diving from 1966 to 1975, and back packing from 1969 to 1975, mostly in the Olympics.

Christopher P. ...My feeling is that most everybody can learn math and science when it is taught in a way that works for them. The traditional methods don't always work and I take pride in my ability to find ways of explaining concepts which resonate with the student. My time at SCCC helped me develop this skill as the students I tutored were very diverse in ability and background.

Reza S. ...From my experience, people learn in different ways. That is why classrooms can be so confusing to some students, because each teacher is tailored to one type of learner. As a tutor you have to be flexible and learn the student as a person if you want to achieve positive results.

I read Mises' "Human Action," joined an economics readers' group, and led economics group discussions. I helped three Masters' students navigate econ courses, at UW and MIT.
