...It's important to balance mathematical content understanding while still seeing the big picture. The questions on the SAT don't say "solve for x" anywhere near as often as you might expect; really, it's all about being flexible and able to apply your content understanding in various ways! ...My approach has yielded successful results. I model real world situations, then develop understandings of them graphically and analytically with students. I find that helping students succeed in Geometry helps them to succeed in further areas such as SAT tests, sciences like Physics and Chemistry, and higher maths like Precalculus and Calculus.
