I then did 1 year of graduate work at Dartmouth College, but decided to switch to a Master's in Computer Science program at UNH. Most recently I have been a stay-at-home dad, and taught my eldest daughter to read using positive reinforcement and the DISTAR method.

In my experience in teaching kids algebra, most who have problems do not understand sufficiently mathematical concepts like the number line, place and variables. I usually get them through the lesson they are on then go back to teach them the things they are missing.
