Here are the steps in order to multiply mixed numbers. I will include your example in each step.:
6 7/8; 22 2/5; 7 1/8
1. Convert all mixed numbers to improper fractions:
(55/8) (112/5) (57/8)
2. Multiply fractions top by top, bottom by bottom.
(55x112x57)/(8x5x8)
3.If required, convert the final improper fraction back into a mixed number:
(351120/320) reduces (4389/4). It is 1097 ¼ as a mixed number.
4. In order to write it with 5 as the denominator, convert ¼ into fifths. Use the proportion ¼ = x/5. Cross multiply, and 4x=5. Divide, and x=1.25. So the answer is the mixed number 1097 1.25/5 .
