i think you'd need calculus for this. but what you've posted shows you're probably still in early algebra. what class is asking all these questions???

what method do they teach you for finding the gradient at a point on a curved line? i only know calc so you need to say what other thing you're supposed to use. thnx

In my textbook it states: to calculate the gradient of a curve at a specific point, the following steps need to be taken:

*draw a tangent to the curve at the point

*calculate the gradient of the tangent

worked example : y = 2x^2, calculate the gradient of the curve at the point when x= 1

and then two graphs are given. a tangent is drawn at x =1

two points on the tangent are identified in order to calculate its gradient

gradient =10 - (-2) /3-0

12/3

=4

gradient of function y = 2x^2 is 4.

and thats it then it gives us exercises to complete.
