what method do they teach you for finding the gradient at a point on a curved line? i only know calc so you need to say what other thing you're supposed to use. thnx
In my textbook it states: to calculate the gradient of a curve at a specific point, the following steps need to be taken: *draw a tangent to the curve at the point *calculate the gradient of the tangent
worked example : y = 2x^2, calculate the gradient of the curve at the point when x= 1 and then two graphs are given. a tangent is drawn at x =1
two points on the tangent are identified in order to calculate its gradient
gradient =10 - (-2) /3-0 12/3 =4 gradient of function y = 2x^2 is 4.
and thats it then it gives us exercises to complete.
