On a number line, point A has coordinate -5 and point B has coordinate 1. Find the coordinate of each point described.
39. Each point that is twice as far from A as from B.
40. Each point that is half as far from A as from B.

My teacher wants me to use absolute value in my equation. All I know so far is that A=2x (x is the unknown coordinate) and B=x
Please help and thank you very much!

You would use DIFFERENCE and ABSOLUTE VALUE.

#39, each point twice as far from A as from B.
One of your expressions is |(x-(-5))|, meaning the distance between x and -5, for some unknown number x.
Another of your expressions is |(x-1)|, meaning the distance between x and +1, for some unknown number x.
Now, work with those quantities to form the relationship described in the description for question #39.
