I am checking my answer to expand my expression:

log3(3square root x /81)

I get:

1/3log3 x-4

Did I do this correctly?

Your formatting is ambiguous. Do you mean either of the following?

. . . . .$\mbox{a) }\, \log_3\left(3\left(\frac{\sqrt{x}}{81}\right)\right)$

. . . . .$\mbox{b) }\, \log_3\left(3\left(\sqrt{\frac{x}{81}}\right)\right)$

Expanding log3[3SQRT(x/81)]

here are 5 BIG HINTS:

1) Product Property of Logarithms
2) A root is an exponent (find out what SQRT means!)
3) Power Property of Logarithms
4) Quotient Property of Logarithms

5) logaa = 1

Now just do it!

ok, answer is (1/2)log3x - 2
