Algebra: writing equation describing max, min temperature

Postby dragon queen » Sun Sep 16, 2012 6:40 pm

I need help solving this problem. Some say that to brew an excellent cup of coffee, you must have a brewing temperature of 200 degrees F, plus or minus five degrees. Write and solve an equation describing the maximum and minimum brewing temperature for an excellent cup of coffee.

Maximum:
x = 200 + 5
x = 205 (degrees Fahrenheit)

Minimum:
x = 200 - 5
x = 195 (degrees Fahrenheit)
