slope - rise vs run

This whole concept seems so easy to me but when I take an exam, these are the only ones I get wrong!!! I am stuck on plotting and coming up with the right answer. I am utilzing MathLab and with all that help, I cannot get pass the quizzes. I do the homework correct and the test wrong. Can you help me with giving me the basics for slope and rise /run?
