Please explain why a 'negitive' plus a 'negitive' equals a positive value.

The simple answer is that it doesn't. I think there's been a mistake somewhere.


A negative times a negative equals a positive.

and

A negative plus a negative equals a negative.


Assuming there's been a transcription error, which of these should it have been?
