Can someone tell me if this is the correct way to solve this question, there is currently a big debate going on.

6÷2(1+2)

the question can be rewritten as this

6÷2 *(1+2)

Then this after we work out what is in the brackets

6÷2 *(3)

Now based on the BODMAS rule, division and multiplication are of the same order, there is no rule that you must multiply before you divide, maths works from left to right so you would do the one that you see first, which is divide by 2 and then multiply by 3, the answer is 9
