I need help understanding the result of z(z-17)(Z+2)=0

Ok, i got this equation:

z(z-17)(Z+2)=0

That the manual gives this as an answer: -2, 0, 17.

MY problem, is how do you achieve this. Where do I start. What is the chain of operations.

So far I have tried doing this:

z(z-17)(Z+2)=0
z(z-17)/(Z+2)=0/(z+2)

or

z(z-17)(Z+2)=0
Z^2-17z(Z+2)=0
Z^3+2z^2-17z-34=0
Z^3+2z^2-17z=34

But im block, and im not even sure if im on the right path.

When any number of factors have a product of zero at least one of them must be zero so...

z = 0 OR (z - 17) = 0 OR (z + 2) = 0

Solving these three gives you the answers of
z = 0 or z = 17 or z = -2
