HELP PLEASE & EXPLAIN

A carload of campers leaves for a lake at 8 AM. a second carload leaves at 8:30 AM and drives 10 mph faster over the same road.
if the second car overtakes the first at 10:30 AM , what's the average speed of each car?

To learn the basic set-up and process for "uniform rate" exercises, try this lesson. Then start with the regular set-up:

. . .first car:
. . . . .rate: r
. . . . .time: 2.5
. . . . .distance: 2.5r

. . .second car:
. . . . .rate: r + 10
. . . . .time: ??
. . . . .distance: ??

Complete the table. Then, since the distances are the same, set the "distance" expressions equal, and solve. :wink:
