Hi, I desperately need help in knowing how to solve a problem that requires a number to be written in index form with a prime number base. I can see the answers in the back of the text, but I have no idea how they get those answers. This is for both whole numbers and fractions.

An example of the questions are;

Write each number in index form with a prime number base
a) 8 b) 64 c) 81 d) 1/13 e) 1/49 f) 1/13^3

do you mean....
$2^3$
$2^6$
$3^4$
$13^{-1}$
$7^{-2}$
$13^{-3}$

Yes! Those are the answers but I don't know how they get those answers - I need to know how to work it out for myself. Thanks for replying

$8=2\times4=2\times2\times2=2^3$
