Lauren is a contractor for a roofing job. She estimates that she will need about 4800 roofing nails. According to a handbook, the roofing nails that are needed count out at about 189 nails per pound. Estimate how many pounds Lauren will need for the job.

You are given a total number of nails, and a number of nails per pound. If you're not sure what operation to use, try plugging in easier numbers:

. . . . .How many pounds of washers does she need?

. . . . .She needs 75 screws, and 25 screws weight one pound.
. . . . .How many pounds of screws does she need?

. . . . .She needs three T-squares, and each T-square weights a half pound.
. . . . .How many pounds of T-squares does she need?

What operation (plus, minus, times, or divide) did you use to answer the above? Use the same operation to answer your exercise. But keep in mind that she probably has to buy whole pounds. If, say, she "needs" 13.4 pounds, then she must buy 14 pounds to have enough.

The problem says to estimate, so maybe they want you to do 4800 divided by 190 or 5000 divided by 200.
