The formula for the lateral area (that is, the surface area of the sides, but not of the bottom) A of a cone with radius r and slant-height s is given by:

So plug $32\pi$ in for A and 12 in for r. Solve for the value of s.

I'm not sure what your question is...? But I'm pretty sure a truncated-decimal answer won't be counted as completely correct. Use the fractional form, instead:

. . . . .$s\, =\, \frac{32\pi}{12\pi}\, =\, \frac{32}{12}\, =\, \frac{8}{3}$
