how do i find the reciprocal of a + bi if a2 + b2 = 1

Form the reciprocal.

Multiply, top and bottom, by the conjugate of the denominator, in order to "rationalize" the denominator.

When you simplify the denominator, you'll see where to plug in the "1". :wink:
