The word problem is - Suppose you have a pipe with a circumference of 8cm and length of 30cm, and that 10 turns of a wire are wrapped around the pipe. What is the length of the wire? (write the answer to two decimal points). I can picture what is going on in the word problem and draw it out, but I still have no clue what formula is needed to salve the problem, please help...thx

theres complicated formulas for if U use width of the wire

they didnt give you that so i dont think U have to do that

i dont no why they said length

just do 10*circumference i think

i dont no why they said stuff abt dec places

I think you must wrap the wire so that it starts at one end and ends at the other. So unwrap the cylinder so that is is a rectangle 8x30 cm. The wrapped wire crosses this rectangle 10 times so every 3 inches forming 10 right triangles with legs 8 and 3. So the wire is the sqrt of 73 and you have 10 of them so 10sqrt73 so 85.44
