Suppose that you are buying a new car and there are 2 promotions. One promotion is 10% off the purchase price of the car and the other is a $2000 rebate. Construct a composition function to represent this situation. Does it matter which promotion comes first in the composition function?

You can use what you learned back in previous algebra courses to come up with the two different functions (one returning 90% of the original price and the other returning the price after the rebate) that you need for this exercise.

Then review

**this lesson** to learn how to use composition for this exercise. To see if "it matters" which you do first, plug the same value in to each of the composed functions (one function being rebate, then 10% off; the other being 10% off, then rebate) and see what you get.

If you get stuck, please reply showing your work so far, starting with your "rebate" function and your "10% off" function. Thank you!
