Find the center, vertices, foci and eccentricity

Postby rowdy3 » Wed May 05, 2010 5:07 pm

Find the center, vertices, foci and eccentricity of the ellipse given by the following problem.
x^2 / 11 + y^2 / 36 =1. Did I do it right? Thanks
My answers.
Center: (0,0)
Vertices: (0,6) and (0,-6)
Foci: (0,5) and (0, -5)
eccentricity= 5/6

a^2=36 a=6

b^2=11 b=square root of 11 = 3.32

a^2=b^2+c^2

36=11+c^2

25=C^2

c=5

e=c/a = 5/6
