Proportion: solving (x-1)/(x-4) = (x+1)/(x-2), etc

Proportion: solving (x-1)/(x-4) = (x+1)/(x-2), etc

Hi guys, I have a problem that I can't figure out:

(x-1)/(x-4) = (x+1)/(x-2)

I'm supposed to "Solve For X" But I can't figure out how to. Any help would be appreciated.

[UPDATE]:

I have another one :

(5a)/x = (5b)/(x-1)

I'm supposed to solve for x here also

Cross-multiply, expand the results, and simplify. Then solve the resulting quadratic (or linear) equations for the value(s) of x. :wink:
