Log question: 6^3 = 216; answer: log_6(216) = 3

Problem: 6³ = 216

Answer: log₆(216) = 3

My question is... does it have to be log₆(216) = 3 or can it be 3 = log₆(216). Does it matter if the = 3 / 3 = comes first or last?

I dont want to get it wrong because it was formatted backwards. Does that make sense?

"Equals" is "equals". Unless you have a staggeringly picky instructor (and I'll be the first to admit that they exist), there is no "right" order. As long as you have log₆(216) on one side and 3 on the other, you should be fine.
